TECHNOLOGY AND INNOVATION

US Army Would Be Like T-1000 Terminator Character in The Near Future

Researchers at Army, Texas A&M have developed a material capable of autonomously healing itself. The polymeric materials have stimuli-responsive expected to be able to perform shape shifting character like T-1000 Terminator in the movie Terminator 2: Judgement Day. Dr. Frank Gardea, aerospace engineer of the project for the Army’s Combat Capabilities Development Command’s Army Research laboratory said that the epoxy material has embedded intelligence to allow the material reconfigure exponentially. The system planted in the material contains of structure, sensing and the response, he added. Along with the innovation, researchers at the University of Buffalo and Army scientists developed to support shape shifting material in relation with autonomously healing by creating a lightweight plastic considered 14 times stronger and eight times lighter than steel that ideal for absorbing the impact of bullets and other projectiles.
