TECHNOLOGY AND INNOVATION

London is to Replace Underground Trains with Sidewalks Moving

Sidewalks moving was proposed by NBB architecture firm to the City of London. The proposal was under consideration to replace subway system with a system of moving sidewalks. The project is welcomed by some Londoners as futuristic vehicle called ‘travelators’. The system would remove existing trains and track but the ticketing system and fares are mostly unaffected. NBBJ called the system more efficient in time and space due to the tunnel could be filled with more passengers three times than using existing trains. (TI01/ND/14/Sep/15)
